ENTRY 71: 10/01/2012

Happy New Year everybody. So, I've changed my website from Birdsbrain.com to Sambird.net for 2012. Few tweaks to thesite design here and there, but all in all, its pretty similar to before.

I've uploaded somenew projects over the past few days. Including an event report I shot at theLondon Puss in Boots Premiere, featuring interviews with Salma Hayek & Antonio Banderas.

There's some newliterature work up, a couple of game reviews I did for Gamezine andVirtual-Zone.

I've also added afew more photo galleries to the site, with some new 550D pics and a couple ofold prints from the vaults.

I'm currently workingon a big film project that should be finished & up on the site by the end ofFebruary.

Also hoping to enterit into a few festivals, so stay tuned for news on that, coming soon.

I recently joined Shooting People. If you haven't checked them out before, their a networkingsite for indy filmmakers, full of great resources, from monthlycompetitions to local events information and much more.

ENTRY 70: 18/11/2011

Hey everybody, hopeyour well. Gaps seem to be getting longer and longer between blog posts, butthis time, I've genuinely been rather busy.

Over the next fewdays you will see a number a new projects popping up across the site.

Including a shortdocumentary on Speakers Corner, a Theeve promo with Chris Oliver. MacaroniSnow, a short film I shot in Hampstead, as well as a few event reports andanimations.

Along with all thiswork, you can find a few other bits and pieces on Vimeo and Youtube.

However, that's notall, I've also update the literature section of the site with several newreviews.

Including a reviewof the French animated film; A Town Called Panic, and a report on the PrinceCharles Cinema Good Bad Movie Season.

Also, In the nextfew days I will be adding a new short story, a novella I have been working onfor a little while entitled From out of Town, keep an eye out.

And..thats not all.I will also be updating the photography section of the site with a variety ofpictures.

Some you can alreadyfind on Flickr, including shots from my recent Speakers Corner venture, as wellas a couple of new skateboarding photos.

Wassup everybody,Hope your all safe & sound. What a wild week in London.

Living in Brixtonand working in Dalston, Its been hard not to notice the looting and fighting.But seems its finally quietening down.

Anyways, apologiesagain for a lack of posts lately. Blogs becoming bit more of a monthly thing asapposed to weekly.

However I'm stillmanaging daily twitter posts, so you can always head over there for updates-@thebirdsbrain.

I've been having funthough. Recently been working for a great film/design studio over in EastLondon called the Paper Boat Creative, check them out. Producing some fantasticphotography and graphic design work at the moment.

I've been doing aton of writing recently, keep an eye on the site over the next week or so,should be a few new short stories and articles up on here ASAP.

Also finished a newscript last week for a short film I'm gonna be shooting as soon as pre-production is all sorted out.

Keep you posted onthat.

Been doing a lot ofphotography work at the moment too. Should have some new pictures up the sitesoon.

Watched a load ofgreat films lately. A couple to note, Dogtooth, a surreal greek drama, 3-Iron,Korean romantic thriller and Revanche, a great Austrian Noir flick.

I went down toSound: An Evening Of Skate Videos and Music the other night at Villain inShoreditch.

Was a fun event,hopefully be some more soon.

Krew/Supra privateparty went down in Soho last week too. Great night, good sounds, funky venue,free drinks and got to meet the one and only Muska.

I've been working ona few new literature projects , film reviews and articles, that should be up onthe site soon.

I also just got aninvite onto Google+, gonna set up my account this weekend, give us a shout ifyour on there.

Hey Now' Wassupeverybody. Apologies for the lack of updates over the last week or so.

Internet connectionsbeen down, so been offline for a bit. Nice to be back. Had a fun couple ofweeks. Been working on a few projects.

Finished off a newshort film script, hopefully be casting for it in a few weeks and have moredetails on the site real soon.

Got to go and see QIbeing recorded last week. That was good fun. Stephen Fry was amazing, andguests included Dave Gorman and Lee Mack.

Also went over tothe Supra demo at Bay Sixty Six over the weekend. Finally got to see thelegendary Tom Penny skate in person. Filmed a few clips, can check them outover on Vimeo.

I also put up anedit I filmed a few weeks back at a new park in west London, The Fox Spot. Wasreally fun to ride and came away with some great clips.

Whats going oneverybody, hope your well. Eveything is good here at Birdsbrain.

Had quite a busyweek. Managed to get out to the cinema the other night. Saw Submarine, thefirst feature film from Richard Ayoade.

Was an awesomemovie, really enjoyed it. Check it out at the Prince Charles cinema, should beplaying there for the next few weeks.

Headed over to theBlind Skateboards 'This is Not a Test' video premiere on Thursday night down atthe new LCB store in Mile End.

Video was great andthere was a lil skate session that went down beforehand, BBQ etc, was a goodnight.

Working on a newfilm/animation project, can't say too much at the moment, but hoping to havesome more info about it on the site soon.

Hey guys, hope yourwell. Been a fun week here at Birdsbrain.

Had a greatreception to all the new edits I released. Particularly the Clan 010 section,picking up a load of web coverage and a fair few hits on youtube etc.

Headed down to theHuck Magazine launch party at LCB on Brick Lane Wednesday night, great turn outand plenty of free beers to go round.

Then Thursday I wentover to the Bay Sixty Six Game of Skate, with Dave Wallace taking first placeand taking us all out to Nando's for a hilarious celebratory dinner.

And this weekend,hopefully just hanging out and enjoying the sunshine.

Hey now' Hopeeverybody's well. All is good here at Birdsbrain.

Apologies for notposting anything on the blog last week or two. Been pretty busy.

I'm still workinghard over at Mpora/Factory Media.

Been out skatefilming a load. Shot a lil Kingpin 10 trick edit with my man 'Felipe Dal Cin'Guys got some crazy skills, your be hearing a lot more about him this year.

Also filmed a lilskatepark edit with all the LCB skate/Surf shop boy's at a new secret spot.

Hopefully, with abit of luck…and some late night edit sessions. All these new edits I'vementioned will be up online by next weekend.

Along with someother bits and pieces, so as always, keep your eyes peeled.

Oh, Got a newfavourite Adult Swim show. 'Frisky Dingo' Give it a watch if you haven't seenit, funny stuff.

Hey everybody, how’sthings? I’ve been busy with new job at Mpora/Factory Media, all going well.

Been writing stufffor the site and I'm now doing some motion graphics work for them as well.

Also been editing myown stuff like crazy, trying to wrap up couple of new skate edits.

There a littleoverdue, but with a bit of luck, should all be up online by next week, keepyour eyes out for those.

I’m off on Sunday tofinish filming another project for LCB skateshop ‘Diwise’

Gonna be buildingsome new skate spots in the West London area, filming the construction, thenshredding them up with all the LCB riders.

I started a new jobon Tuesday, for the next few months I will be doing a full time internship withMpora. An action sports media company.

Had a job withAdidas on Wednesday, interviewing young athletes etc. Went really well.

Had me working on apromo for 'Cirque du Soleil' Was really fun, got to meet the shows producersand interview some of its super fans.

Wassup Everybody.Hope you're Cool. I had a fun week. Been working pretty hard, despite having aproper man flu the past few days, I'm surviving.

Spent a few daysover at Shepherds Bush Studios earlier this week filming a making for a band,as well as some work at The Russian Club over in East London on Thursday nightfilming the Sup Magazine launch party.

Now, I've got a tonof editing on my hands. Gotta get in the post production groove. Hopefully beputting up some new stuff in the week.

Wow, What a week.Bagged myself a second job. Still working with Art19, but i'm also now workingwith Pollocks.TV. Including two days of filming at the world famous pinewoodstudios!

Was so cool. got tosee the 007 lot, The worlds biggest green screen and there amazing underwaterstage.

Then last night wasout filming with Pollocks at The Adidas/Diesel collaboration Launch Party onOld Street. Great again. Cheers for everyone who helped out.

I'm back with Art19this weekend working on a documentary. Then hopefully some more projects withPollocks next week and my first major music video with Art19 soon after.

Hey everybody, sorryfor the lack of updates this week, been moving house and running around.Finishing up on a few new film projects this week. Head over to the movies pagefor my new short, Mans Best Fiend, a surreal drama/comedy I shot earlier thismonth.

I know a lot ofpeople frown upon film critics, asking why they have right to tell you how goodor bad a film is, and how there opinion is any more valid than the next person.I agree that this is sometimes the case, but over the last few months I'vebecome quite a fan of film reviewer Mark Kermode.

In my mind he reviewsfilms the best way anyone can. First taking into account his vast knowledge ofcinema history/production, being open minded, not bias towards a film justbecause its a popcorn movie and always balancing intellectual insight withlaugh out loud critiques. He has also produced several creditable documentarys,on everything from film censorship to behind the scenes featurettes.

So I guess what I'mtrying to say is type his name into youtube and see what you think.

One of my guiltyviewing pleasures over the past few years has been ABC's LOST. Most of myfriends gave up a while back, but I stuck with it, whether it made sense ornot, I enjoyed the characters and the style of the show, the music, the heartbreaking montages and the mind boggling cliff hangers, enough to keep mewatching anyway. Like all the other fans out there, I needed to know what thehell was going on.

Well this morning Ifinally witnesseed the finale, The last episode. Whilst it did leave me with afew questions unanswered, and concluded with a theory most of us had probablystumbled upon before, it was a solid enough explanation for me to check out ahappy man. I thank them for that.

However, i'm stilldesperate to know more and i'm sure there are plenty of you who feel the sameway. So for all you Lost geeks such as myself, check out the link below fortheories, discussions and answers, that will hopefully leave you feeling alittle less..well...LOST.

Entitled Four Lions, thefilm follows 4 hapless jihadis, hatching together there first terrorist attack.The plan, to blow themselves up at the London marathon. Blueprint Premierethis Sunday at the Prince Charles Cinema, Leicester Square. Think tickets areall sold out, but you could head down anyway, try blag your way in, or sneakthrough the back, your choice. Should be a great vid though.

Okay, so I'm alittle late on this tip, but if you haven't seen it yet, check out JamesMarsh's stunning 2008 documentary 'Man on a wire'. I haven't seen a film asinspirational as this in a while. Not gonna climb Big blodey Ben or nothing, butit sure made me cry, I mean...um...check it out.

I've always been abig fan of British hip hop, all hip hop for that matter. But the Brits havebeen producing, in my mind, some of the best material, both in beats andlyrics. I've always felt for a lot of artists on this side of the shore, as 5or so years ago, it seemed there music was going to breakthrough, reach alarger audience. However it didn't, whilst still listened to by thousands uponthousands, it still hasn't received the attention a lot of people feel itdeserves.

Theres a greatdocumentary up on youtube at the moment. Just type in 'british beatzdocumentary' to find it. The film shows the struggle, but also the skill,knowledge and determination of these artists, check it out now.

Well thankyou forcoming and checking the site, hope you like, still a few bits to add, but mostof its up. Was a little harder to make than I though it be, quite a few latenights of programming, but all done now.
